1. In the light of day, when boogie-men, who are just men a little more evil than we are, die, it’s reason to cheer - to celebrate 5 minute patriotism.

“USA, USA, USA! Okay dudes, let’s play SOME BEER PONG AND GET WASTED.”  & then what?  They go back to being as uninformed as they were before.  Unless, along with their 5 minutes of unabashed America love, they are also now 5 minute experts in the field on everything from why Obama did it, how badass it must be to serve in the military,to how backward and wrong the Islamic culture is.

I’m glad that Bin Laden won’t hurt anymore people; I am not going to revel in anyone’s death no matter how evil they might have been. I’m not a hardcore politico; I prefer national news to local news & I try to stay informed so when I talk I don’t sound like an idiot who knows nothing about the world around me.  Pretending to know a lot about something you clearly don’t just makes you seem that much more a fool; I can find Pakistan on a map.

& where do we go from here?  I’m curious about what Pakistan has to say.  I’m nervous about the fall out from killing someone who was so revered in a culture that bears little resemblance to our own.

[These are my props to everyone in the Military who’s lives did revolve around our occupation in the Middle East, who had bigger, more realistic worries than my own, & their familes who’s sacrifices allowed my naive existence to continue unscathed.]

When it comes right down to it, Bin Laden didn’t really factor into my day to day life as a regular old American citizen. My hardest decision in life is usually, “Uhm…do I need another tee-shirt?”  His death doesn’t impact me in the slightest.

The thing I’m wondering about most though, is comparible to a classic scary movie - once you kill the boogieman, another one always comes in and replaces him.
